Peterson’s aggregates data from the Common Data set, which schools report themselves. There are over 3000 schools on CC. Barnard reported their mean composite SAT for 2021 as 1419. They also reported that the middle 50% of scorers scored between a 1440 and 1520, as you note above. Those numbers seem at odds, unless some of the bottom 25% scored considerably lower than the middle 50%. But that is what was reported via the Common Data set. I do not see another mean SAT reported on the Barnard website.
None of the other figures (such as a 14% acceptance rate) jive with current data - so there seems to be a disconnect what your provider’s records show as “having been reported” vs. what they actually do report publicly and consistently.
Maybe no “mean” was reported in recent years, causing however-old data to linger as that field is never cleared/reset.
Looks like big chunk of class is already filled with EA/ED. My D did not apply in time to get interview as she applied RD around Christmas time. Not getting interview- will that impact her chances. her stats are
gpa 3.87
wgpa: 4.77
SAT 1560(one sitting)
Good Ecs
Comparing even U/W GPAs are tricky - as schools will handle A vs A+ etc. differently.
So my daughter’s HSA GPA of 3.85 might still not be comparable to your daughter’s. She had taken >8 AP classes - but nowhere near 14. On the other hand, every single AP Score was a 5.
She didn’t submit her SAT. Her ACT was 36, with math a 35.
One crucial thing to keep in mind, Barnard is known to use holistic admissions - there are plenty of cases every year where applicants with stellar numbers are NOT admitted - while seemingly comparatively “long shot” applicants do receive a welcome surprise.
Bottom line: High stats are far from a guarantee, and lesser-high stats are not necessarily doomed!
With so many exceptional young women applying, who are all equally accomplished (just in different ways!), it’s impossible to guess someone’s chances when there are only spaces for a very tiny fraction (<5% RD)
