Hi everyone! I’m applying to Barnard as a transfer and I was wondering if there were others out there who are in the same boat as I am. Maybe we can sit through this agonizing period together haha.

i’m planning on applying as well!

Yay I’m glad I’m not alone!

Does anyone know when we’ll be hearing the decisions for transfers? I know RD decisions came out today…so hopefully not long for us either I hope?

Hi there! I applied as a transfer student. However, I sent in my online application just on the deadline (15th March). I didn’t even get my tracking information yet. So I guess I won’t get my decision before 31st May. Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi! Best of luck everyone.

I applied close to the deadline as well. I hate this whole waiting game though :/

Hi ladies! I applied to Barnard for transfer admission too! Barnard is my dream school. I applied Early Decision for Fall 2012 First-Year admission and was rejected right away (not deferred or waitlisted or anything). I love Barnard too much to not give it another go :)

Right now I’m going to Hofstra University. I’m a little worried about how the rank of my current college (notably lower than Barnard) will affect my chances of admission, but at least I am in the Honors College. This past Friday I went to sit in on a drama class (I’m a drama major) and take the campus tour another time, and our tour guide had a friend who transferred as a junior from St. Johns College in NY so that made me feel a little better. My ACT is a 31 and my college GPA IS 3.94, but my high school GPA was only a 3.42 unweighted/4.44 weighted. (I was not uber successful at balancing play rehearsal and school work)

ANYWAY, I submitted my application on March 15th (my birthday! good mojo possibly?) and I just got my application confirmation email from Barnard at 9AM this morning. I am keeping everything crossed until I hear back and I wish all of you guys the best of luck! This is an AMAZING school and I hope we all get to go! I will let you know of any further developments, including my admissions decision and I hope you will all do the same! :)

Just got an email with my application identification number! I’m so excited to reapply to Barnard. I was waitlisted last year and ended up going to UC Berkeley.

@shadowcat, I submitted my app right on the deadline too. I called the office and they said they will release decisions by May 31st. Good luck girls!!

Hey guys, I’m applying to Barnard as well! I was also originally waitlisted when I applied in high school. I have a question: did you all have completed midterm reports? For three out of five of my classes we hadn’t had any major assignments yet so my professors wrote “not applicable” and that I had been attending/contributing to class etc. Still, it probably looks a little weird to only have two letter grades on there. Did you guys run into the same problem?

@345678, I submitted my mid year report and just asked my profs to base their grade off all my coursework so far…which, without a lot of assignments, ended up being all A’s haha.

You should probably submit your grades ASAP, since they are probably starting to read transfer applications.

Thanks! Yeah, I called them today and they said I could still send it in.

I was just looking at the Barnard grading scale, and I noticed that they use 4.3 for an A+. Whaaaaaat?!! Not a thing at my school. Hoping they translate our gpas to the Barnard scale… maybe this could balance out those Bs haha.

Yeah, turns out Barnard has a really different gpa scale than my school’s gpa scale… hoping they recalculate for each letter grade.

any idea of how we get the decision? snail mail or email?

pretty sure it’s snail mail

I was looking at the Barnard Transfer forum from 2011 and I think if you get rejected you first get an email and then maybe eventually snail mail, but I think snail mail is how you will first learn of an acceptance. Maybe they’re keeping it green since there are like 5 no’s for every yes

well, they also sent out emails to all the RD applicants for the first time this year. who knows, maybe they will do the same for transfers.

So accepted or rejected, we’ll all find out by email?

I think it’s likely since that’s what they did for RD, but who knows! According to Barnard’s formspring, some acceptances will be sent out early May, and some mid May.

I visited Barnard during spring break and was told that we would find out the transfer decision by email for sure. First time in the history!

well, i just noticed a pretty major grammatical error on my supplement. there go my hopes of admission

That’s funny, tonight I was feeling anxious about my application and I went back over all my supplements too. I wouldn’t give up just yet contages. I think Barnard being Barnard, they will care much more about the content of your essays and will accept one grammatical mistake. I’m just trying to enjoy the time when the dream is still alive and we can still tell friends and family that we don’t know yet.
