Both fit my pre-requisite of an urban setting, liberal arts education, and the opportunity to write my own major -important because I want to somehow combine slavic languages, international relations, communications, psycholinguistics, and choreography : )

What do you think?

Oh, and I forgot to mention that NYU gave me poor financial aid whereas Barnard gave me money a-plenty...

Tough choice... It depends how much you need the financial aid. Do you plan to go to grad school? If so go to Barnard with the good Fin Aid package. If not, go to NYU Gallating because it allows much more freedom for self designed majors I believe, and NYU is a more recognizable name worldwide. (But a Barnard education is very strong academically). It's your choice really. They have very different campuses too. NYU doesn't really have one but Barnard does. If you haven't visited you should. Also, try saying both names. Which would you be more proud saying when someone asks you where you went to school? That's important.

Barnard would be my choice. Just an opinion.

I've been a student at NYU and I would say Barnard.

i would say barnard. you can design your own major here, and the gen ed requirements might open you up to even more possibilities. (i dont know about gallatin's requirements.) it's smaller so you will get more personal attention.. it sounds like you will need that in narrowing down your choices! :)

Does anyone know how receptive NYU is to financial aid package appeals? Should I even try to talk to the financial aid offices or are my hopes in vain??
