I was completely set on attending Barnard (it has been my #1 for quite a while), but yesterday I visited Vassar, and now I am very very confused. I don’t know if anyone can help or provide any bits of info, but at this point, anything can be a deciding factor.

I too got accepted at both. Tough decision for me, both are good schools. I tried to make sense of the rankings (USnews) - Vassar 12, Barnard 29 but when I read it they are really much closer. In the end NYC made the difference for me.

also check out all of the discussion boards on this site - it helped me

having visited both in the past week, i am also having a difficult time deciding between the two. in the end, i think you have to "go with your gut". for me. this is hard because the phenomenal faculty, job opportunities, and late night lights of NYC make it hard to turn away. did you have a feeling at either place. corny as it is i think it is the most important thing.

I've been told so many times to just go with my gut. But it's almost like I was set on Barnard for so long, how could I not go? If I hadn't gotten into Vassar, I would have chosen Barnard over anything else. I just didn't expect Vassar to be an option and I didn't think I would have to make this decision.

Your decision should be based on the inkling you get in your heart. You want to choose the college that will make you happy and let your talents shine brightest. Vassar and Barnard are both great schools and I think the US news rankings have no real bearing on which is better. Personally, I love Vassar more than Barnard simply becasue I think the coed environment may offer a more realistic college experience-but that is my own biased opinion. Good luck with your decision!

i tend to think that if you had your heart set on barnard from the start, you might regret choosing vassar instead.

I completley agree. College is a big thing so make sure you are going with your gut instinct.

I agree with constellationx.
I was in the same situation as you.. trying to decide on Barnard or UChicago.
My heart was set on NYC for many many many years. And before I got into UChicago I chose Barnard over the other schools I got into... I did a lot of swaying and debating, but I knew that if I didn't go with my heart and choose Barnard I would regret it for the rest of my life.
I went with my original path.. and turned down UChicago.
