Barnard VS Wellesley for pre-med

Which school is better for premeds? Which one has more research opportunies (related to sciences)? and community service for hospitals?? premed advising? (And other areas that help students get in top med schools).

Barnard is fantastic for everything except advising. The pre-health advising here is atrocious. You’ll find better advice, support, and guidance in the student body.

That said, I’m a rising senior who has found much success in research, community service, and all my premed requirements. I’ve been a TA since my sophomore year, as well.

I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, but how important is the advising program in the med school admission process?

It isn’t, very. There are plenty of ways to get your information. Barnard has a great student-run pre-health group with some very knowledgeable girls in it. I may or may not be highly involved. (:

The only thing you’ll need advising for is to get your committee letter together, which is Barnard’s way of compiling all of your letters of recommendation and giving their personal assessment of your qualifications for med schools. Advising is very clear as to what they need from you for that.

Ok, that’s very good to know. Thank you!
