Ok so, I want a thread that people can post their stats on that got accepted to BARRET @ ASU in the last couple of years. I am a sophomore and want to go to Barret.

My SAT- 1250= CR+M, 1820CR+M+W. (sophomore)
4.0 GPA
Many Volunteer hours
NHS
HOSA (Vice-President)
Shadowing Exp
AP AND HONORS courses

MY CR is sort of low, include any recommendations on how to raise that! Thank you. Would a 1250 CR+M get me in? The average sat cr+m is 1340?!?!?! I need advice ASAP! I still have junior year to bring up SAT SCORES!

It’s a little low, but everything else looks good. You can even bring it up when you’re a senior, so just keep working on that. I got in with a 1330, 3.5 GPA, and hundreds of hours with NHS, California Scholarship Federation, Interact, had a business enterprise, and 4 years of varsity baseball. I also wrote one of the best essays of my life; that’s an important aspect.
Now this is just my personal speculation, but since they have a holistic review, I feel like if your “hard” stats aren’t up to par, leadership experience and potential becomes a big factor. I didn’t have the best scores, but I had tons of leadership experience and, since I was going into business, starting that business venture was probably a huge plus.

Ya you can probably get in. I got in with a 1710 and a 3.7, I was amazed. There are kids at my school who were denied with a 3.9 and 2100 though, so its a crap shoot. All I have to say is write really really good essays.

My daughter, instate during early admission:

ACT 27
GPA 3.79 UW
Majority Honors/AP classes
Class Rank 12/390
Lettered in Golf/Swimming
Multiple STUCO leadership positions
Very little community volunteering
Very strong letters from HS counselor, AP English and AP Bio teachers.
Well written essay focused on family religious influence around pacifism. In the light of recent events of violence the theme may have been timely.
She represents classic upper 5% Phoenix area public HS student. She did not have over the top obsession with getting in to top tier school. Very active social life. Fortunate to have strong work ethic and gifted mind. Go Devils.

For the people who are worried… everyone I know got into Barrett! Even my friend with a 1550/2400 SAT score, so it’s not all about the scores. Write a good essay.

For the kids who will come on here for the second wave of admission… here are my stats
GPA: 3.9/4.5
SAT: 2070
Ranked 7/450
A whole lot of community service
leadership positions in 3 clubs, one that I founded
My essay was good, not great. I liked it. Great Recs.
I’ve played absolutely no sports.

It does sound like you have a good chance of acceptance. But it does seem like they do take a holistic approach and people with lower test scores may get in over higher scorers if they have a great essay, or outstanding resumes.
