Barrett Honor College at ASU. Anyone Have Info?

My son was accepted there and we anticipate the full ride for NMF. All of our dealings with this program, including meeting with the Dean Emeritus and founder of the Program, when he was here in Houston on a recruting trip, make it seem like an unblievable opportunity, aside from the money aspects.

Does anyone have first hand knowlege of the program and/ or have talked to anyone who attends or has attended?

My D was accepted as well with free tuition. It is a good program, many from our high school went last year. It is a cheaper alternate to smaller liberal arts college. Plus side: there are good professors in their program, you get smaller classes with in the honors program, great study aabroad and research opportunities with honors professors,, Neg: most of your classes are still with the reg school. large classes, TA's, easy, all the downs of public school. ASU has a rep as a party school, the honors dorms have nice kids who are social as well as bright, it is quieter, but they are old and small. The dorms looked like prison cells to me. The kids we know there are quite happy however, and will graduate debt free. We have not ruled it out but not on my D's top 5 list. Feel free to e-mail me any questions. My S who is a freshman at Pomona considered it seriously as well, but felt he would get distracted by the heavy partying, too tempting.

texdad, congratulations on getting into the program. I don't think my kid will ever have the grades to become a NMF, but I want to hear what you think of the program, just in case.

Have you visited ASU?

We will be visiting in March.
