@freezycool - FWIW, my son did not get into Minnesota, which was a surprise since he was well over the averages. I think they decided that he was unlikely to attend (we never visited) and did a little yield management to improve their profile. Engineering at Minnesota is also much more selective than most other majors.
@Beaudreau oh whoa! Yeah, their Engineering & Comp Sci seems to be a popular pic- I applied as a Family Social Sciences major. They never specify GPA averages on their site, but I think my 3.4 (UW) won’t exactly be popular- but my SAT is 300ish points over the CEHD mean- buuuuut GPA.
I’m actually visiting next month, forked over 2 weeks’ summer paycheck, but I’m sure it’ll be worth my time- UA & ASU I can visit by drive since anything within a three-state-radius is a road trip waiting to happen.
@Beaudreau You really think so? Even though I am slightly below the average for both? Also does anybody know like the acceptance rate at Barrett? Like how many people apply to it and how many get admitted?
Daughter’s Barrett application is submitted/completed. Essay, SAT scores, teacher recommendations, etc… all done.
3.84 UW
4.55 W
1330 SAT plus a 760 writing score. Took test only once.
Ranked 10 of 605 (top 2%)
Highest available course rigor
Now we wait with all the other candidates … good luck to all!
@CatnPhx. She is in for sure.
