Barron's AP Computer science book

I’m self studying AP computer science this year to avoid the stupid intro class (which is just block coding and scratch) and because I know a decent amount of programming already.

I’ve heard from many that a good book to study from is Barron’s AP Computer science book, so I figured I would order this book and look at some online tutorials.

Should this book be decent enough to self-study and get a 5 on the exam? Are there any better alternatives?

Barron’s is great for this class. I used it to study for the exam (though I also took the class as well). I found it to be an enormous help, especially for the FRQs. Practice those FRQs!! I think you’ll be great studying with the Barron’s book.

Litvin’s is also great for practice. I used Barron’s for overall clarification and Litvin’s for extra practice/a quick review.
