Barron's CR Problems

Well not really a problem, as I do think the difficulty of the Barron's CR will hep on the regular SAT. But some of the questions for passage-based reading, and their answers, just seem plain wrong or significantly more ambigous than anything one would find on the SAT. Did anyone have this experience as well? There are simply no discernibly better answers than others for a few questions, at least in my opinion.

Which ones specifically? I've been running into the same kind of thing. I still don't understand why I missed #23 and #25 on pages 86-87.

I feel pretty confident about most of the other ones though... maybe I can (try to) explain some of them.

Oops I was talking about Barron's 2400... you're probably just using the regular book, right?

Yeah just the regular CR workbook. How is the 2400 Book?

thecomisar - don't they have explanations for those ques or is it that you disagree with their explanation?

To tell you the truth, the Baarons are very, very subjective.

I guess I disagree with their explanations... it seems like what they say is true, but I still don't see why my answers weren't equally valid.

FreeFree, the 2400 book is OK, but it didn't have as much practice as I'd hoped. Not even a whole test for practice, just a couple shorts sets of problems for CR, W, and M.

Is there a lot of practice in the CR workbook?

i think the barron's aren't very.. detached.

i mean i use the method of looking at the question and hunting for the answer in the passage (i find it faster that way) but it doesn't work for some of barron's passages. (but it works for all of the real tests)

i always fight with barron so i don't use the books anymore for sat I.

Yeah, I agree. I find that the strategies in Barron's 2400 are very good, but after a few attempts at answering their questions I've decided to just skip over those and use real ones from CB because they're less equivocal.
