Do you get the college town atmosphere at UDub? I notice you don't mention it as much as other schools. Is there something lacking at the Univ of Washington?

I think Udub is a very good state school but more lacking at the UG level than the best ones. Most of my business friends went there and they are all good people and most loved it. To me the campus is great but seems to be more of a commuter school feel with not to much life on weekends. The Ave. has had its problems and now UVillage attracts most of the kids on weekends--I can't blame them.
It also seems that about 80% of the students come from the Seattle metro area and only a few are out of state keeping it more parochial than schools of similar quality.

Barrons, where is the UVillage compared to Udub? How far away?

It is just north of ths sports complex and 45th Street. Easy walk from the highrise dorms on campus.

It's more of a daytime hangout--there are a few good restaurants and a sports bar but no clubs or anything of that kind. Barnes & Noble, Gap, Restoration Hardware--you get the picture. But very well done and pdestrian friendly. At night there are a few bars near the Ave, and lots of stuff downtown and nearby on Capitol Hill and Queen Anne.

University Village is so full of chain stores that it is hard to differentiate from any other state other than that access is from outside not a "mall" so since it rains most of time you might get the hint that you aren't in LA

The ave is coming back though, and downtown and the U district are the easiest places to get to by bus

Thanks for the responses.
