I'm a little freaked out. As i go through the book and answer questions i feel like im cheating myself because I use my calculator rather than do some of the questions algebraically. Is this ok to do because I don't want to hurt myself on test day?

I dont see whats wrong with that. I did that with at least like 25 of the diagnostic questions I did today. Literally every function/trig/equation problem you can do on your calc. I can even do some of the probability questions on my calc thanks to a year of Ap stat :]

Its not going to hurt you… Barron’s is harder than collegeboards anyways. Just make sure you know them somewhat.

I know alot of people are going to say it should be your backup, but I find that it saves so much time.
