Barron's SAT CR workbook 13th edition-Questions on a Section

Just some questions on the section of questions found on page 127 questions 7-15
I do not understand why number 11 is C, 12 is C, 14 is D.

For number 11, which I chose B because "variations in behavior exist among primates of different species". The correct answer, "chimpanzees are different". Is it because I did not fully understand what "primates" meant, and chose an answer meant to lure me in?

For number 12, which I chose E because in the passage supports it especially in 49-50 and hints throughout the passage that loyalty to the group is essential to survival (food, fighting off predators, etc). However, the answer is C, which shocked me: "each chimpanzee has a distinct personality". After I looked at the answer I can understand a bit now, but can someone explain this a bit more?

For number 14, I chose E because on line 70 it mentions that the size of a regional population must be restricted by the amount of members that an animal can identify and have friendly relations with. I do not get why it would be the size of food supply, although it is also mentioned. I think that both answers could have been correct...

Is there anyone who can explain? thanks

CP.

bumpppppp!!!

I also own this book, though I don’t really like it. I’ll try my best to explain these things.

Number 11, line 13 pretty much says “On the other hand”, which I guess is meant to signal contrast.

Number 12, its C because line 58 says “they have rejected individual uniformity”

Number 14, line 73 or so talks about how environmental conditions, such as food, limit the upper limit of the number of members in a region.

Hope this help. Like I said, I don’t really like the questions in this book.
