Barron's SAT II "American History and Social Studies"

I'm taking the SAT II US History Subject Test on June 6, 2009, and here are my resources:

AMSCO
Crash Course
Fast Track to a 5 (won't be using this lol)
Barron's SAT II American History and Social Studies 10th Edition (published 1998)

I'm wondering whether the Barron's book is worth using (my teacher provided it to me upon learning about my plans to take the subject test). It's old--as you can tell--but history is history...doesn't really change lol. Of the aforementioned resources, what should I use and what should I discard?

Read AMSCO thoroughly and you will almost certainly do well.

Any opinions on the Barron’s book?

i like Barron’s. it organizes history by presidents, right? The tests are definitely harder, but i found it easier to study from.

honestly, though, it’s all i had. my friend swore by crash course.

Yeah–Barron’s is organized by presidents. I tried reading it today and it took me well over five minutes to read the first two pages…I guess it just isn’t that “enticing.” (And I’m a fairly fast reader btw.)

After skimming some of it, I found that it contains a lot of superfluous information, such as in-depth descriptions of each type of Indians (plains, northeast, etc.). I’ll probably just read Amsco again.

I’ll be using AMSCO and SAT II Barrons for the APUS… and probably going to read Crash Course the night before.

I really think that’ll be a strong set-up.
