Pretty much what the title says: does the plain ole SAT Math Workbook prepare you for the Math 2 test? I really don't wanna have to buy stacks on stacks of prep books for these things. I heard that Barron's makes their books harder than the actual test, so I was thinking that maybe this could be cross applied? Just so we're all on the same page, this is a workbook specifically for the math part of the regular SAT.

Tips for free prep from anyone who's taken the test (math 2) would be GREATLY appreciated.

Math II includes precalculus and trig, so I would also suggest getting the Barrons book or another prep book specifically for the Math II test, since your regular SAT math books only cover algebra and geometry.

Also keep in mind that your performance largely depends on your mathematical background. If you have a solid understanding of algebra, geo, and pre-calculus, you should be able to pull off an 800 with little prep.

In terms of prep books, Math II covers pre-calculus topics, so if you’re weaker in those areas, a regular SAT math book is not enough. I’ve never used Barron’s, but people here say it’s a bit harder than the regular test – in some ways that’s a good thing; it’s better to be over-prepared than under-prepared.

Thank you very much! That bit about AMC prep being good is very helpful because I have that coming up too! I’m very strong in PreCalculus (final is next week, I have a close to perfect score. The only things bringing it down are homework assignments I haven’t turned in… oops! haha) I don’t want to spend money on a prep book so I’ll see if I can find the barron’s book online or just do AMC/AIME, sparknotes, and precalc problems. Thanks everyone!
