I am currently self-studying from the AP World History Barrons for the past couple of weeks, and I just too the test. I got 56/70. Is the two model examinations really realistic? Are they too easy?

Barron's is considered harder, generally. Some of their books are really good (AP Psych and AP Stats, in particular) and others are crap (APUSH and AP English Language). I dunno about AP World.

A 56/70 is an 80%, which coupled with decent or slightly worse FRQs and DBQs is a guaranteed 5 in the other two histories. I'm assuming the same is true with AP World.

Well...I got 59/70 questions right on the Barron's which I thought was much harder than the released exam, but I only got 53/70 for the releases exam, so who knows.

But with your score you are assured a 4 and probably (80%), will get a 5 on the real test.

Good Luck.

I wouldn't say it sucks. Last year I just skimmed the school textbook but spent the last two weeks reading nothing but Barrons. Ended up with a 5.

I wouldn't know how accurate the essay help or practice tests are, since I never did them (never thought to). But Barrons is generally harder than the AP so I wouldn't worry too much. I'd say if you've done pretty well in your school course and have read the Barrons review section, you'd do pretty well.

Well, the thing is, I haven't taken the school course. I've been self studying for roughly the past month or two. I just took another barrons test and I got 59/70, which is like 84%. Its a great score, but I'm hoping thats not because Barrons is just easier then other tests. Last week, I took a PR test and I got like a 46/70, which is much worse. So I'm wondering whether the improved results are because I have done better, or because Barrons is just easier then PR and less realistic then the real AP test.

I'm hoping your right though Joon. :P Tommorrow I plan to go to barnes and noble and take a Kaplans practice test and see how I do. We've only got two days to get some last minute reviews and practice tests done. Unfortunately, I have hardly even practiced the essays.

The PR test is MUCH harder than the released exam, I got the same score on the PR as you did...so you are at about where I am.

THe released exam: Got 53/69, but it was not too bad, actually some of it is easy, but some of it was just general geography, like which country is currently industrializing the fastest...so you should be on track for a 5.

Good luck!!!

out of all the Barrons I have used, ALL were much harder than the exam. I know many of you guys will be mislead into thinking that the harder the material, the better prepared you will be. This is a complete fallacy because the harder material is often not covered by the AP test.

I pretty much got 60% at best on my WH practice tests out of 5 for a 5 and PR.. and I got a 5.. I write good essays though, my Euro was probably around a 45-55% on that test and I got a 4.. just for reference. I think PR is the best review for WH though..

How are the Kaplan books in comparison to the actual exam? I have a Kaplan Calc book (for AB)...

Barrons books make me feel like I'm hopeless. :D

I just took a Kaplan test just now in barnes and nobles...

scored 55/70. I heard Kaplan is harder then the actual exam... is this true? If you ask me, there were many easy questions. Some were tough, and some I didn't know, but thats it...
