I need some input if anyone had an experience.

I'm in my late twenties and wasn't able to focus on my undergrad for financial and family reasons and now I'm back at CUNY community college this Fall 2008. I have registered for 18 credits. I have registered at the same community college back in spring 2007 but didn't finish it off and got all wu's as in "F" and currently I don't have a GPA(0.0). I have registered for the same courses that I took back in Spring 2007 and 6 more credits. I passed my Math and reading Placement exams but failed my writing. However, I've appealed against it and I will be given an opportunity to retake the exam during this semester.

I'm hopeful to transfer to Baruch College in Liberal Arts major this coming Spring 2009 (I want to pursue Accounting(but given the state of my situation, I'm hoping Liberal Arts will give me a better chance of getting into Baruch)).

I understand , One need to have 24 or more credits so Baruch won't evaluate based on High School(its a pretty bad GPA)

I'm taking 18 credits at the CUNY Community College and another 12 credits at this Private university based in NY in this Fall 2008.

What I need to find out can I still apply for a transfer student to Baruch before the deadline of Oct 1st and list all the courses I'm taking in the Fall 2008(I've made a commitment to get the highest possible GPA(I'm not a bad student, its just I've been procrastinating a lot and the financial situation but that has changed). Including 18 Credits from the CUNY COMMUNITY COLLEGE + 12 Credits.

Thanks for taking the time out to read and for the comments.

18 credits at a community college is more than a full load. Since you had such a bad time last time, you shouldn't try more than 15 or 16. ESPECIALLY since you didn't pass all of the placement exams on the first go!

You need to ditch the notion that you can also complete 12 credits at the other university while you are doing 18 at the community college. 30 credits is the equivalent of a FULL YEAR of coursework. This is waaaaaaay too much to try to pull off in only a semester.

If you are trying to get through your basic coursework as quickly as possible, find out whether the university you want to transfer to will accept any CLEP credits. The CLEP exams are administered at many locations nationwide, and each one takes about 2 hours to complete. Since they are offered year round, you can review for them one at a time, and take them when you feel ready. Check with your community college to see if it is one of the test sites.

Good luck!

Thanks ! It was very enlightening and helpful reply.

I think the CLEP exam is a brilliant idea. The Community college does accept up to 12 credits. However, The college I'm planning to transfer has listed only Calculus being an acceptable CLEP credit. I'll ask the admissions office at Baruch college(transferring school) whether, they accept the CLEP credits that I took at Community college Because it will be listed on the Community college transcript VS. Baruch college transcript.

I've found the answer :

"New transfer (Spring 2008) and current Baruch students will receive credits for CLEP exam(s) taken prior to January 25, 2008 according to the following list:"

I suppose they are only going to accept Calculus. Well, that's not bad either, something is always better than nothing.
