Baruch Honors or Binghamton?

So I have quite a dilemna. I have until tomorrow to choose between these two great schools.

I got a full ride to baruch through their dean's scholars program which also includes a macbook air, priority course scheduling, and money to go abroad. Problem? Well, I've been going to high school in the city for four years and I absolutely detest it. I hate taking trains and the fact that there wouldn't be a real campus. I also wanted to be AWAY from home. It's just to close. In addition, I have no idea what the political science program is like there and that's what I want to major in.

Now for Binghamton, I got 5500 in loans and that's all. I'll probably have to be paying 11,000+ a year (I can "afford" it. It;s just that I plan to go to law school and didn't want to have to pay back any loans after undergrad). However, Bing has that campus I want (not really. It's hideous but at least it's not NYC) and it has a better name which is a big deal to an A student such as myself (I had better options, but couldn't afford them...). I also don't know what the political science major is like there.

So I'm pretty much very undecided. It all really comes down to which school would help me get into a top law school? Which has the better poli-sci program? And which one is more worth it (I know, I know. Baruch would be free :/)

bump. Please help :/

Hello, I understand your dilemma. My personal input would be that at the end of the day, Bing and Baruch will offer you the same education. It will be what you make of it. Personally, my preference would be to attend Baruch College since Binghamton can get depressing.NYC has all the networking, internships and connections. there is endless opportunities particularly in their top-tier business program. However, you already attended High school in manhattan which isn’t anything new or special to experience. Although Bing might have the “better” name Baruch is up and coming and is a bang for your buck. As a matter of fact, both schools are. Anyway, what was your decision? Which Bearcat are you?

Binghamton’s campus is “hideous?” That statement is so ridiculous. Bing. has some of the best housing anywhere (private schools included) and it is just getting better every year. The East Gym renovation is awesome. They new student union will have many new restaurants.

But reading between the lines, it seems like you plan to be unhappy wherever you go.

I would rather be unhappy with little or no debt.

Think about ways to make your time in NYC more like an out-of-town experience.

Study abroad is a way.

There is always a transfer option.

Law school is GPA and LSAT more than it is the school you graduated from.

Go to the school where you will be happiest (money issues aside) because your performance will show it.
