Basic Application Question

My DS is a rising senior and he fell in love with Pitt on our visit in the spring. He is very excited to start his application to Pitt. He is planning on submitting an essay along with his application but isn't finished with it (the essay) yet. Can he start the online Pitt application and fill out everything and save it and then when his essay is ready, upload that and the apply?
It is confusing because after he registered with login information, the site recommends that the applicant fill out the entire application in one sitting and apply. Does this mean you cannot save information and go back to the online application? He hasn't logged in to actually see the application because he is not sure if he will have to finish and submit if he logs on! He has heard that the application is very basic so filling it out won't be an issue. He just would like to submit the essay at the same time as the application. If anyone has started/completed the online app and could provide some insights, that would be great!

Certainly. Pitt won’t look at his application until the SAT and HS Transcript is mailed in and received. He can email in his essay and resume of activities to OAFA after he has sent in the regular application with his basic information. Just don’t want too long. Once the application is complete (i.e. SAT/ACT and HS Transcript are in) they will start looking at it.

Thanks AO! I"ve been reading all your posts and you are so helpful. I really appreciate it. Can you tell me, though, if DS can start the app and save it and finish it on another day? Or does he have to finish it in one sitting? Its unclear and he didn’t want to log into the application until he was sure. He wants to upload the essay to the application so wanted to prepare all the other information on the online app in advance. Thanks!

Pretty sure you can save it and come back to it to finish and submit it, similar to CommonApp.
