I'm a senior in high school, and I've selected which UG institution I'll attend. The only thing is that I don't want to take Calculus in college. I'm currently in Pre-Calculus and AP Statistics, and I have an A- in both courses. But I've heard that college goes at a much faster pace, and I don't want to risk taking Calculus I and getting a low grade in it. My school allows Pre-Meds to take Basic Calculus instead of Calc I, but my question is if Med schools would look down on me if I took Basic Calc instead of Calc I? I plan on taking Stat in college, but I really dislike Pre-Calc.

Has there been a major change in the material taught at medical schools in recent years? I know that many medical schools are now requiring it but when I was in medical school Calculus was never used. Since my undergraduate degree was in Astronomy I had actually taken a lot of Calculus but never had any use for it in medical school or residency. Therefore, I would take whichever Calculus course you think you can get the best grade in.
