basic question about the FAFSA-- SOMEONE HELP!!!

What exactly does the FAFSA ask for? Would it ask for your parents income from only 2004 or from 2003 and 2004? Or would it ask for EVERYTHING?

I ask because my mom worked sporadicly and I don't know if she has any tax-return forms from past 2003.. and on the UC application, it asks about her "prior occupation" (the job before her current one) and I wrote "unemployed" becaus she didn't work.. but she's afraid that the information won't match up and I'll get screwed over.

Thank you!

If you are applying for the 2005-2006 school year, the FAFSA will use 1040 and W2 forms from 2004.

correct, fafsa only looks at the past tax year's returns.

The FAFSA for the 2005-06 school year will require the completion of the 2004 return only. However for schools some schools other documents are requested by the schools. We were asked to submit tax returns for two years directly to the college finaid office. For a student going to this school in Sept 2005, the college would want the 2004 return and the 2003 return for both parents AND the student. This school also requires the filing of the Profile.
