I was looking over the academic calendar for next year (fall 2017 - spring 2018) for travel planning purposes.
The calendar lists a fall break for Thu-Fri October 26-27 and Thanksgiving break for Wed-Fri November 22, 23, and 24.
Just for clarity, the fall break in October is a 4-day weekend and Thanksgiving break is a 5-day weekend (i.e. not the entire week)?
Correct
Some would like Tgiving to be a full week, but really, the semester ends 2 weeks later, so many OOS really don’t come home twice in two weeks…particularly since so many students want to be in Alabama for Iron Bowl anyway…either going to the game at Bama’s BD or going to Auburn’s stadium.
That said, a number of families travel to Tuscaloosa to celebrate and go the game.
OK, thanks. So (if she chooses UA, still waiting this out) it might be better for us to go there for TG and her to come home for Christmas.
The period between Tgiving break and winter break is pretty short. We flew our daughter home freshman year, but after that she either stayed in Ttown, spent Tgiving with a nearby friend or met us at the beach. It didn’t seem worth coming home when she’d be back in just a couple weeks. Plus there’s the Iron Bowl - they want to be back by Saturday for that, at least when it’s a home game (it’s at Auburn this fall).
