So, I failed the analytical writing test as expected. I need to take a basic writing class.

Do anyone know how hard the Basic Writing class is? Or the exit exam?

I am taking a English 1A class right now at a CC. That class doesn't seem too easy. (I didn't get the teacher I wanted.) The last day to drop is this Friday.

If Basic Writing is easy, why bother with a grade on the transcript that is not so good when I can get a grade that is better. (even though both classes don't count for credit... just looks better. it shows on the transcript, i assume?)

As for the learning part, I don't know which one will teach better? Does Basic Writing teach good stuffs?

Which one would be a better bargain? about 100 bucks i paid for books the CC class. plus, 20 bucks per unit = 20 X 4 = 80. about 180

My friend has taken the basic writing class at UCSD three times now. He said it's fairly worthless, and the percentage of students from that class who pass the exam is ~20%.

confused_junior, the postal stamp on the letter is June 13, 2007. i found the letter on the desk yesterday night. my mom must have gotten it the past few days.

there's another test? but i probably will fail it too. i failed most of the writing test i took since 7th grade, except the cal state one. my writing level is probably around at 7th grade level. if i take time, i can write decent essays. too bad test is limit time.

sigh i think i'll stick to the CC class, since i probably won't past the exit exam.

If you failed it already, there's no "other test", unless you take Basic Writing your first quarter, then that other test would be the exit exam.

The class is called SDCC1, I had to take it first quarter, complete waste of time. I passed the exit exam and continued on.

Stay in your CC class, and do your best to pass it. Follow the writing instructions carefully, however stupid they may be.

In the end....the writing class didn't help me in the kind of writing I'd be doing in my required writing class (CAT for me since I'm Sixth College). My TA's helped me out more than that class ever did. Now I'm a fairly okay writer.
