Anyone going to the bball game on Sunday for Candidates Day? That is such a good idea for marketing the school! My d is looking for school spirit in her college. Hope this fits the bill...

admiralamber, did you and your daughter go to Candidates Day yesterday? How did she like the visit? What did she think of the campus?

We went to the lunch and the game, but we didn’t go back to the campus because we had seen it before. The school definitely went up on d’s list!! Great game and she loved the hoody that she bought there! We will be going to the town of South Orange in a few weeks to check that out. I googled it and saw some interesting places. The only thing that she did not like was the dorm when we were on the tour last Fall. Often freshman dorms are not very nice. All in all, things are looking good for Seton Hall…still waiting for U Del.

We were going to do Candidates Day but, being 3 hours away, we had not yet visited campus at all and it didn’t appear there would be a lot of time to spend on campus that day after the BB game was over. So we did the basic campus admissions/tour visit on Saturday instead. My D also really like the campus (and agrees with your D about the dorms). She just thought it was the perfect size, not having an urban campus feel but still being able to get to NYC easily. And the Education dept and Honors Program appear to be very good. So SHU is definitely at or near the top of my D’s list also.

Mine is not doing the Honors program because she will be in nursing and that will be challenging enough. I’ve been checking out the lap top computer situation; supposed to be free as long as you are a full time student. She’s going to the April 10 or 11 overnight. Right now she is Pirate bound. Wore her hoody to school today. Where are you? We’re in NJ about an hour south.

My D was accepted into the nursing department. We couldn’t make it to the game, but know others that did and had positive feedback. My daughter is doing an overnight in a few weeks. We are also attending the April 10th Accepted Student Day. We are from CT - about 2 1/2 hours away. Maybe we will see you there.

We’re in PA. Yeah, that laptop program is nice. Our tour guide said you get a brand new fully loaded Lenevo ThinkPad laptop at New Student Orientation and then trade it in two years later for another new, more powerful one that you get to keep.

My D didn’t get to go to the game because of a stomach virus. She is definitely going to do the honors program if she ultimately decides to attend Seton Hall.

Did you send in your housing deposit yet? I think it is refundable if you decide not to attend. I’m a little concerned that all the rooms will be taken if I don’t send it in soon.

No, Admissions told me it should not be a problem as long as deposit is in on time. They also said I could call to confirm housing just before I’m ready to make deposit. D is down to deciding between Seton Hall and Pitt but is squarely on the fence. Guess we will need to make another visit or two.

Received financial aid package today. $19,500 scholarship $3,500 sub Stafford loan, $2,000 unsub Stafford loan. Would have liked some work study on campus job. Also got a hand written letter from the dean of nursing. I think they want her to go there…

That’s great admiralamber! Congrats to your D!! Guess the FA packages are getting mailed out as they promised (end of first week in March). Yeah, Seton Hall seems to be good about handwritten notes. D got one from Dean of Educ a week ago and got another one this week from the student tour guide we had last Saturday. Nice personal touch.

admiralamber - great news. I hope ours comes in the mail today. Have you participated in any of the online chats they offer in the evening? I did this week - it was about financial aid. There were admission and financial aid staff who were pretty quick to respond. I learned a lot. The housing deposit is refundable up to June 1st and the tuition deposit up to May 1st.
