Bates admission chance

<p>Hi everyone. I am going to apply to Bates Early Decision and I was wondering what people think and if you think I have a chance. </p>

<p>Senior year courses:
AP Biology
AP US Government
AP Spanish Language and Culture
Honors Japanese Literature
Calculus
Yearbook Design and Publication
World Religions </p>

<p>GPA: 3.66 (unweighted), 3.92 (weighted) (major upward trend - got around a 3.5 my first three semesters, but around a 3.85-3.9 my last three semesters)</p>

<p>SAT: 1800 → taking again I know this isn’t a great score
SAT US History: 670</p>

<p>Taking the ACT and I’m hoping to get a 28-30</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:
JV soccer: 9th
Varsity soccer: 10th, 11th, 12th
Club soccer: since 4th grade
Swim team: 9th
Track and field: 10th, 11th, 12th
Student newspaper
Junior Lifeguard program: 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th
Volunteer writing tutor for students at my school: 12th
Volunteer work (JMMF foundation): 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th
Mayor’s Youth Council: 12th
Major: undecided

<p>Don’t worry too much about your SAT score- Bates doesn’t factor that in heavily. They care much more about the individual subjects your passionate about. That being said I think you should try and improve your subject test score if history is something you’re thinking about pursuing.
Otherwise I think you have a shot. My grades also followed an upward trend when I applied ED - I’m sure that maintaing them was what helped me get in after I got deferred/waitlisted. So keep your grades up! They’re undoubtably the most important part of your app and may save you when being considered again.</p>
