So I’m confused. The website prepscholar has the average Bates GPA at 3.09, which is drastically lower than last year, the SAT average seemed to have lowered as well. However, the acceptance rate is still 22%. Anyone know why?

Hey, I don’t think prepscholar has the most accurate data. Let’s wait for the students profile. Last year’s average GPA was 3.91. I don’t see any reason for a sudden decline of 0.82
Prepscholar also lists November 1 as an ED deadline, lists schools with twice Bates’ acceptance rate as harder to get into, and says Bates doesn’t have an explicit SAT/ACT policy.
In other words, garbage in, garbage out.
Try this instead. It doesn’t list GPAs but does have stats for % in the top 5, 10 and 20 % of high school class. Note: the admissions information is for last year’s freshman class. The admit rate for this year’s freshman class was lower, IIRC, somewhere in the neighborhood of 18%.

Lol, you’re only as informed as the quality of info you seek allows. If you settle for some blog info from someone purporting to be expert, you reap the results. That’s not critical thinking.
Congrats to all of you who will enroll at Bates.
