Bates vs. Colgate vs. Conn Coll

I’m deciding between Bates, Colgate, and Connecticut College for EDII.
I love almost most things about Colgate (size, location, etc.) except I’m not sure about the ‘atmosphere’ there. When I visited both Conn and Bates, I got a more friendly feeling from the students.
Can I get some input on the social life and students of each of these schools?
What do Bates and Conn Coll students tend to do on weekends seeing as they don’t have frats like Colgate?
Thanks!

i know people who go to both bates and conn and what i've been told is that sports team play the role that frats do for college social life. bates tends to be more on the hippie side and conn tends to be on the preppy side

Why not try doing an overnight at Colgate (if you still even can)? Because the EDII deadline is coming up, I'd honestly suggest that you wait for RD, that way you can take the time over the next few months to get to know the students at each school better!!!!

My D at Bates says there are plenty of things to do on weekends. The student body is very intimite; parties are given by dorms or houses or teams. There are campus sponsored events. Everyone attends.

I agree with Post #2. The typical student at Bates is quite different from students at Colgate and Connecticutt College.

i actually think bates and conn are very similar schools in terms of atmosphere and student body.

Hey, I go to The Williams School, which is actually on the campus of Connecticut College. Because I have been on the campus for 6 years, I can say that Conn Coll is amazing! Plus, if you are interested in education, they do offer you the chance to shadow a teacher or even teach at The Williams School, which is 7-12.

Conn Coll has amazing facilities! From their swimming pool to their lacrosse fields. Also, because it is all contained, and most of the buildings are on that central quad, its easy to get around. Although there may be a couple frats and sororities, I know that majority do not participate in them. I would choose to go to Conn, but I live 15 min from my house, and that would just be weird.

^^^conn has zero frats and sororities.
