My parents are making me decide by Sunday night, and I have not been able to narrow it down between these three. I'm from the Midwest, I enjoy rowing (and would be on the team at Conn or Bates), I love to ski, and I love being outdoors. Other than that, I'm pretty laid back and fairly outgoing. I'm not much of a partier, but that's mostly due to my busy rowing schedule. I also would like to get involved volunteering with the community where I go to school. I would like to study abroad, but from what I hear it's easy to do so at all three. I have no idea what I would like to study, although I'm more interested in the humanities and I hate science. Also, cost is not an issue. I wish I could go to all three, but that not being possible, I need help deciding, so thanks for your help!

From what you have posted above I would suggest going to Bates. And it has a better reputation than both of the other colleges you have mentioned.

Bates is a terrific school (ranked higher than Conn - appropriately so IMHO) and has great opportunities for volunteering in Lewiston. I know a number of students at Bates and graduates of Bates all with very positive views of their experience. I don't know much about Colorado College.

colorado college is an awsome place to be for four years, but Id go for Bates

My son went to Conn and he (1) volunteered in the community, through several different venues, and (2) studied overseas (New Zealand).

In my experience -- so take it as what it is, just my experience -- Conn kids are cute, handsome, pretty, and athletic, while Bates kids are a bit geeky and very jocky.

BTW: Have you visited? Not that you can by tomorrow night . . .

Isn't Colorado College the place where you study one subject at a time? That's a setup that you would probably either love or hate.

I'd choose Bates, too. I've heard too many bad things about Conn College, although Huskem55 used to promote it eloquently.

Thank you all so much for your help! VeryHappy, I've did an overnight at all three within the past month, and (fortunately/unfortunately) I loved all three of them. Although my parents are very adament in letting me decide (they themselves can't agree where I should go), they'd prefer I go East because I have family there (so they can visit me/my family more often). The block plan (at Colorado) sounds awesome to me; however, when I sat in on classes and talked to students, it seemed as if the classes were more high stress than a typical college class. Also, prestige/rank aren't really a big deal to me. No one here has heard of any of those schools. My GC thought Bates was in North Carolina!

Bates-the rowing team is up and coming/Lewiston is a great place to volunteer/the academics are excellent and the community of Batesies is very friendly. Good skiing near by as well.

Greennblue, what bad things have you heard about Conn? I just got accepted as a transfer and am considering it very seriously.

I picked it because I love liberal arts schools but not the hippie-ish vibe in attitude and clothing that tends to come with them. Conn seemed to be a good balance of academics and people who are more my style.

bates and conn are so similar to each other, but i'd be happy to "eloquently promote" (thanks greenblue :) ) conn if you have any specific questions.

They definitely are similar, and that's what is causing me so much trouble picking one. Greennblue, I'm also wondering what you've heard about Conn. Huskem55, if you were/are a recent student, do you know how often students take the train to either Boston or NYC for a fun trip? I know it's doable, but do people actually take advantage of the opportunity?

I vote Conn Coll. They are really into Humanities and Social Sciences. The college is located on the Thames River and the campus is pretty.
