As I was entering Sunset Blvd., I began to have a serious signaling to go to the bathroom (I drank lots of coffee). By the time I parked my car in Landfair, I had nothing to think about but bathroom. As I was walking down Gayley, I finally realized that my back felt unusually light, noticing that I had left my backpack in the car. So I had to travel all the way back to my car (which only took 3 minutes, but that seemed forever considering my urgent situation).
So I finally got my backpack out from the car and began to pace quickly toward campus. I was relieved to see DeNeve Commons, so I walked up to the door, only to find it locked. Tried my Bruincard and everything, but I guess it doesnt work during Summer.

By now I was on the verge of *ing my pants, but I thought of Drake Stadium bathroom. I didnt give a dam about lights, and I literally began to jog toward the stadium. I saw the "Restroom" sign pointing inside toward the bleachers.. I was soo delighted to see the sign and began pacing myself toward the pointed direction, only to find the shutter completely locked. I was in tears when I found out about it. I was literally sweating now I even thought about peeing on the spot but trying to uphold my pride, I began walking toward Wooden Center. That took forever, I didn't smile. I must've looked really *ed off and I was sweating like mad. I got inside Wooden Center, swiped my card.... and it wouldn't let me in. I asked the people working there to let me in, and they refused. I was angry but didnt want to spend any more time with them as I was in emergency state.

I got out... and I finally arrived at the bathroom in Ackerman. It was as if I found 10 tons of pure gold. I was ecstatic to finally having found an available bathroom.

Now... I probably couldn't think properly as I was in a disastrous state but was there a bathroom nearby that I completely missed on my journey toward Ackerman?

I think you could’ve tried going to the entry of Acacia-Birch (De Neve) at the De Neve turnaround… it’s usually always open during the day. For De Neve Commons, I think it remains locked…

hm, i would have just gone up rape trail and waited for someone to open the door to any of the rieber buildings. people go in and out all the time and if you just wave, they’ll most likely open it for you.

btw, rape trail? not the best name in the world.

I’m not bad mouthing the trail itself, just the name of it. It is one of the best shortcuts in UCLA.

Rape trail connects Gayley and De neve (right?) Drive. It basically takes you right up to the back of Saxon suites and Rieber Court, from Gayley. So if you live on Kelton, Landfair or the other streets near Gayley, you can take Rape Trail up to the dorms on the hill (not De Neve and the like).

My friend is going to live on Landfair and I’ll be in Rieber Terrace. It’s a nice little shortcut we can take to see each other. It’s better than going through De Neve or walking along Bellagio.

It’s not Rape Trail anymore, you guys. They’re the Saxon Steps or something like that. Saxon and whatever that denotes stairs or a trail would suffice.

I don’t understand why you weren’t let into Wooden. If the sensor doesn’t work, then the front desk will let you in the side.

Or you can just explain your situation, leave your backpack as a deposit, instead of walking towards Ackerman, which takes longer than talking to the front desk workers.

You could also use the restrooms in De Neve, next to the front desk there. There’s a woman’s restroom on the first floor, if you had to go desperately. Or you can go up one more floor for mens.

was the deneve dining hall open? theres bathrooms by the lounge there. rieber and sproul also have bathrooms on the first floor. covel has bathrooms on like all the floors…and covel is pretty much always open.

rape trail is officially saxon trail now i think. theres a sign. i think the rape trail name will still live on though.

its not that people are holding it up to be something cool, but all the people that were here before they put up the sign have always known it as rape trail and will likely continue to call it as such. and if upperclassmen talk to freshmen and drop the rape trail name, its bound to be spread around the new students as well. whether that gets picked up and used instead of “saxon trail” by the majority will remain to be seen.

all im saying is that the rape trail name isnt going to go away overnight because they put up a sign that says saxon trail. eg: people still referred to at&t as cingular after the name change. some still call it cingular to this day.

I read somewhere that it was called such because of bad lighting and lots of bushes. I don’t think renaming the trail is going to fix the attributes that have earned it the sobriquet “rape trail.” …Maybe if they put some better lighting and security in there, then they can have a chance to rename it.
