I know this might sound weird, but I was just wondering about the whole bathroom situation.

I know they are co-ed by floor, but are they divided in any fashion whatsoever with showers and such?? Thanks

Actually, it’s one giant communal shower with 6 shower heads and one shared bar of soap.

Just kidding!

Each hall has one bathroom with a couple of toilet stalls and 2 or more shower stalls. The shower stalls all have changing areas that are included inside the stall where you can keep your clothes or the towel, or whatever.

Totally co-ed. If you are a guy, a girl might come into the same shower right after you.

It’s really not a big deal. I honestly never thought twice about it. I don’t think I would have been any less or more concerned about privacy if it were single sex, and since I had friends who were guys, it was nice getting to brush my teeth in the same place as them. You eventually forget that bathrooms in other places aren’t coed. I was with some vassar folks in a museum, and we were stopping at the bathroom, and the whole group of us started walking towards the women’s room… until we stopped the guys and reminded them they needed to go to the men’s room next door.

Not to mention that it means that no only are the bathrooms co-ed, but they are genderless. By not marking a bathroom as for a single gender, students who identify along the gender continuum can feel welcomed. It’s an inclusive way to pee. ;)

Thanks VassarGrad! I’m actually a girl and was just a little concerned with the cleanliness/ privacy aspects of a co-ed bathroom. It’s nice to hear that it’s not that big of a deal and that there seems to be plenty of privacy :)
