Anyone in this program/know someone in this program/know more about it in general (Aside from what I may be able to read off of the program's webpage or Wikipedia)? I'm considering applying for their 2-year MPP for which is scheduled to start this fall (I was sooo disappointed that I was already graduating when the accelerated program was announced).

I'm finding in my first month of Grad school, that the school I am at is not going to allow me to really study the things I want in order to later get the type of job I want -- well, at least not for a good number of years. The quantitative/math aspect is nearly non-existent and getting electives in economics is nearly impossible. Anywho, despite the fact that changing grad schools is apparently a major academic faux pas, I am considering it anyway. It's not worth my time to remain at a school that marketed itself to me one way, and is now proving to be less than completely true.

You might try emailing someone at UVa. Batten’s pretty new and I knew a handful of kids who thought about going but the process was kind of loopty-doopty and I know two got rejected.
I do know that if you want to go into hands-on public policy work, the school is great. And, with that Miller Center for Politics, there’s a large number of unique visitors.

You have excellent reasons to move. Make it, if it’s going to be the best for you. You can always explain why later on :)

Jingle-- Really? That’s great news…I had asked over in the Grad Forum on here and they were very negative about it.

I have been in contact with the Graduate Admissions Director and reading up on it whenever I could. I’m really excited about the new faculty they just hired for Education and Health policy (the two areas I care about in particular). The Director also let on they have plans to offer some kind of financial aid package, so that’s all the better.
