hey guys…although there are many admirable threads out there, one that is noticeably missing is: what are the musical tastes of the brightest students on the planet? < harvard applicants ofcourse >

I refer to MM as Indie because I don't listen a lot to GNFPWLBN. The older stuff is truly some of the best Indie ever, although it's not like I dislike the new CD.

And Radiohead - I would still consider them Indie. Hail to the Thief is, in my opinion, just as experimental and cool in an Indie sort of way that Kid A, OK Computer, and The Bends were.

ya i agree that their older stuff is indie. but their new stuff isn't. now that they are becoming popular they tend to be mainstream. but heck i shouldnt be complaining bc i am sure anyone of us in that position would want to make more money and increase our respective band's influence.

In the emo/emocore/alternative rock genre: Straylight Run, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday (until John Nolan left... the new CD blows), Dashboard Confessional (the old stuff still chokes me up :-P), hot hot heat, the format, the Get Up Kids, the postal service, deathcab, Alkaline Trio (but Matt Skiba's solo stuff moreso), and something corporate.

On an indier note: Bright Eyes (although he has two billboard top 100 singles right now), Rilo Kiley, Desaperacidos, the faint, Azure Ray, tilly + the wall (well, most everything Saddle Creek), the late Atom + His Package, Sonic Youth, Pavement.

And more random stuff, like the Streets (british rap), Johnny Cash, and everything else from ATB to Zwan.

OMG....USHER!!! 50 CENT!!! You guys rock!...Yellowcard, Simple Plan, Linkin Park, Vanessa Carlton, Petey Pablo, Ciara, BEP, Christina Milian, Kelly Clarkson...Juvenile...really odd combo...oh, and Hindi music
