the coolest thing about having multi-cultural/ethnic friends is you get access to different types of music ( k-pop, hindi, soca)
gotta love diversity

alkaline trio, chevelle, collective soul, smashing pumpkins, dj format, rolling stones, strokes, doors, scruggs & flatt, allman brothers... pretty much anything good.

The Velvet Underground, Yo la Tengo, The Sonic Youth, The Flaming Lips, Smashing Pumpkins, Bright Eyes, Interpol, Thursday, Coheed and Cambria, U2, REM, Air, Cyann et Ben, Jesus & Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Ennio Morricone, Carly Simon, The Postal Service, Bob Dylan, The Strokes, The Beatles

To a lesser extent: The Cardigans, Dashboard Confessional, Jimmy Eat World, Death Cab for Cutie, The Decemberists, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Hives

wow i didn't realize how poppy even smart people are....oh well.

the cardigans!! <3 <3, lovefool was my favorite song when i was in 4th grade.

Haha! <3 Man, I really love music. There's nothing wrong with it being "poppy," you know. Poppy music can be good...I mean, it pops. Popping is good, it's happy.

Modest Mouse, duh. For the record, I had this sn pre-"Good News" way back on the old CC. LOL. I'm really liking the post-rock stuff lately... Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Ros. Radiohead, yes. Too Short, LOL. Pink Floyd, check. Ben Harper. Pavement, Q and Not U. Guided by Voices. Kanye West. The Pixies. The Decemberists. Flaming Lips. NWA... Jay Z. Nas. Wu Tang. The Walkmen. Mos Def. THE MOLDY PEACHES! Velvet Underground and Nico. Psychedelic Era Beatles. Just standard pseudo-indie fare with some old stuff and hip hop thrown in. Pretty bleh...

Oh man... Ron Artest for President, dammit. Haha.

Haha, I think it's terrible that people who like Modest Mouse have to say they liked them before Good News. I don't think it's a terrible album (but I realize that most of the people who say pre-goodnews (not you, specifically) are only doing it because they're worried about some kind of indie cred).

Actually, modestmouse (the CC poster) inadvertently got me into Modest Mouse.

I was reading some stuff on the forum, and then I saw the name, and then laughed. Then I thought, hey, might as well download some stuff just because I liked the band name. Started with Good News and loved it. Then I thought, "Hey, their other stuff is probably good too." It was all over from there.

By the way: does anyone have the Night of the Sun EP? Any good? It's the one Modest Mouse thing I'm missing.

Wowzers. That made my day, ubercollegeman!

The Night on the Sun EP is good. I think it's out of print, though... I may be wrong. Funny. "Night on the Sun" is also one of my favorite MM songs.

Yeah, I seriously love you, modestmouse :D. I think you may have single-handedly caused me to embrace a new genre of music (Indie). Before, I was pretty much listening to classic rock ENTIRELY (I still do, but now it's more 50-50).

You have now replaced Radiostar as my favorite CCer ever! Haha.

i've yet to see another weezer fan :(

yeah well i'm yet to see another tull fan. weezer hmm i've only heard around 3or 4 songs and one of them was originally a Turtles number....
