ustas06, you will eventually meet some upperclassmen (well maybe not, without my team or frat i probably wouldn't have known any juniors/seniors) but also, even though most (and by most, I mean don't think you're going to be the only one) people don't have fake ids, enough people will such that you will have at least one friend with one that works. If they really are your friend, they will have no problem going to the liquor store to pick stuff up for you. In fact, they will make so many trips, they will eventually stop being carded, and so they really won't mind.

very interesting.....and yeah a 30 pack around here is 20 bucks.
alcohol and food huh? i guess student loans will cover books and printer ink lol!

what kind of beer are you guys talking about that your 30 racks are that much? The 9.50 I referred to is for Genny Light.

^ Why not drink water? I sampled Heineken and Killians Red last night. Those were pretty close to water too! But mate, a bottle of Stoli costs about 30 without tax here, and Bacardi Superior is just a tad more. How can you possibly get it for 12 bucks?

you can get a 30 of miller light, coors, or bud for around 17 to 20 dollars. natty light or beast can go for less than 15 around here.

I need some alcohol suggestions... I need some good tasting, relatively cheap stuff that doesn't burn my throat.

I figure wine is probably my best bet, but other suggestions would be nice.

So u guys don't spend too much on clothes, movies, outings, or other stuff? People only keep talking about food and alcohol.....

i usually buy clothes at the start of each semester so it doesnt really count in my expenses. i also stock up on as many free tshirts as i can. movies i go to once a month or so, and thats about 15 dollars total. other stuff is the 10% not used by food or alcohol.

i only get clothes when i come home and my parents buy them for me or if i need a dress for a formal i have them put extra money in my account for it. i rarely have time to go shopping anyway w/ going out/sorority/classes/sleeping

For about 20 dollers you can get a handle of Southern Comort lastchancexi. That is good hard alcohol. Otherwise I always get whats on sale for $15 a 30 pack regardless of type (bud, coors, mgd). When you are in a fraternity they usually buy $12 handles and the cheapest beer which is usually natty and blue ribbon if they have that where you are.

i had a bad experience with southern comfort. a giant bottle of grey goose that will last a while is 63 at the store near me. a .75 bottle of trul 1792 absinthe is 90/each or 190/3. a .75L of 151 is like 22 i think.

to the person asking about going to the movies, most other people dont want to spend the money to go see a movie when so many people have DVDs, downloading etc. Also, for most of my friends, providence movie tickets were more than they were used to at home (i would have loved to see their reactions to NYC movie ticket prices) Unless you buy clothes close to weekly, they won't factor much into your budget, and if you're a guy, i doubt you'll be spending much at all on clothes. Alcohol is definitely what most people buy most often. And why spend money eating out when you have a meal plan?

Actually, I've never paid for alcohol at a frat party at school.

Absinthe will get you drunk fairly quick.

does anyone actually pay to dl? or does nobody really care

$10 a week on booze? That sounds a bit high.

High? um, have you looked at the price of alcohol recently? You can't even get a small bottle of crappy vodka for $10. I went out to a bar for a friend's 21st birthday party and walked out with another $180 on my credit card. Alcohol is expensive, young ones - learn this!

Jagermeister - take it in shots :)

I actually spend quite a bit of money on food each week since I eat out at restaurants so much.

Wow, that's some cheap liquor you guys buy. Over here it costs mre than $9.50 for a 30 pack for ANY beer. (more lke $20 for the cheapest) (and movie ticket prices here are outrageous. $10 the cheapest) And how much Vodka do you drink, anyway? I'll drink a cup or two (whole cup, not a shot) and I'm dying already. That bottle should last you longer than a week :/

i dont know anyone who could drink a cup of vodka without mixing it. a cup of vodka would put you out for the night and run a good chance of alcohol poisoning...

Exactly. That's what I'm sayin. How can you finish a whole bottle of Absolute in a week by yourself?

Uhm... with 3 other people we finished an absolut bottle (around 1.5L I believe) in a 1 hour flight mixing it with OJ.. finishing it in a week by yourself is definitely possible.. drink everyday :)
