Bay Area (CA) Junior -- Chances for Stern

Looking at these other "chance me" made me fully doubt myself. Oh well.

DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America -- Business, Marketing Club)
11, 12
11th: [Norcal] 2nd Technical Sales Written Exam, 2nd Overall, 2nd Marketing Math test [State] a top 3 at state would qualify me for internationals, very possible
12th: Possible club president next year and a repeat at previous achievements?

Various other clubs not really at the national level (10, 11, 12)
Working on bigger fund raising projects

Spent 2 weeks in Costa Rica building houses and providing help for the homeless, about to go again in the summer (11th grade year and 11/12 summer).
Spent 1.5 weeks in Mexico doing the same thing for orphans my sophomore year.

Additional Information: My school offers very weak club programs such as Science Olympiad and Debate. Math, Science, and Decathlon teams don't exist either. Doesn't offer any sophomore/freshman honors classes besides english and math

I've only decided I wanted to study business the end of last year, and hopefully my weak ECs wont take me out of Stern consideration

Also other universities I would like to attend
UC Berkeley
UC Los Angeles
Wharton (Far reach I know)
Emory
Washington in St. Louis
USC

Bump.
also if its of any interest, I was on the JV Football team sophomore year

Somewhat weak GPA, good scores, good ECs.

Berkeley: reach, slight reach if your essays are great
UCLA: slight reach (50-50)
Wharton: reach
Emory: high match (~60%)
USC: high match

Going to a competitive school may help.

Thanks so much! what about NYU Stern though? I think out of the colleges I've listed, I would most rather attend Stern

For Stern, I'd say slight reach (50-50).

Thank you 10chars

yea, I think Stern is a reach, but you could definetly make it.

Question: If I win more than one event at the State conference for DECA, does that count as multiple wins, or just one win on apps

bump bump bump

looks like you have a good chance, especially because of DECA. good luck!

thank you so much

i actually think you'd be a match for berkeley and UCLA since you live in california. i got in to both of those from out of state (of course, that was four years ago) but i had comparable grades (slightly better GPA and SAT, but not a single honors or AP class) and i severely lacked ECs, whereas your ECs are good. wow them with your personal statement.

i also wouldn't mention this falling asleep thing unless it is a real medical condition -- doesnt sound so good.

wharton would be a reach. not sure about the others.

Haha yeah I'm not going to mention that, but if I get rejected anywhere, that'll be my excuse. Getting into Berkeley and UCLA would be amazing; thanks for the feedback. Btw, norma jean is a sick band

UC Berkeley: match
UC Los Angeles: high match
Wharton (Far reach I know): far far reach
Emory: high match
Washington in St. Louis: high match
USC:high match
Stern: reach

Consider EDing one of the schools you want to go.. either Wharton or Stern.. that'll increase your chance of getting in

Wow that brought my mood up. what percent would you say is a match? Like 60-80%?

What is your UC GPA?

how many classes do they weight

4 classes I think. 8 semesters, not including 9th grade.

Do you go to MSJ? lol

3.96 UC GPA. And no, I go to Foothill in Pleasanton. MSJ is like ranked in the top 100
oh yeah and I heard UCs weight community college classes that are UC transferable.. Is that true? If it is, then my UC GPA should be 4.03
