Hi All:

A newbie here. Daughter was accepted to Baylor and was offered a $12.5/yr scholarship. From what I see, Baylor gives out lots of these. My question is, removing need-based aid from the equation, does Baylor ever up the ante on scholarships prior to the deadline for accepting the school’s offer? Just curious as the $$ gap is huge for us right now and I can’t see borrowing $30+K/yr. However, we visited Fall Premiere and she loved the school and campus so I want make sure I explore all options before she eliminates Baylor from consideration. Thanks all.

Not that I know of. First of all, are you Baptist and does your church give out scholarships? Ours does and they will match it. Other than that you would have to look at outside sources.

Baylor only cost around 7,000 when I went. My PSAT commended status gave me half the tuition. Then in Arlington Texas Zach Bobo gave out 2,000 a year scholarships to 6 kids going to Baylor. I got one of those. I also applied for every single scholarship I could think of: PTA, essay competitions, etc. Doing this made Baylor affordable for me. I would not go into massive debt to go there as much as I love the school. Once I got there, I received other scholarships from my department.

Hope that helps.
