congrats to your son! what a great offer. From what I’m reading from others and my daughter’s frineds offers (14K, 17K, 19K), $20k/year at Baylor is higher for initial merit, but fingers crossed as more people decline, maybe more merit may come available? who knows. But 120K at SMU is fantastic!!!

Anyone else struggling to justify Baylor at 50K after a disappointing aid offer when your D or S has cheaper options that aren’t as high on their lists?

We are having a difficult time justifying 50k a year as well. Difference here is that DS was underwhelmed with the I2E event and now has options higher on his list that cost less.

Sounds like an easier decision to pass on Baylor for your family. Congrats on having a number of other great options.

Hi there yes we are in the same boat. We may have to wait on this a little longer before committing to see how everything plays out.

Just got an email from them. You get what you get and don’t get upset. Pretty much their answer

SMU is about $80k/year so not really a better deal

Yep,you are right. This is from them.We holistically review all applicants and their supporting materials to determine award packages. At this time, your award package is final and will not be revised. If you would like to continue this conversation with your Admissions Counselor, I would encourage you to reach out to them for any additional options and opportunities.

Which school sent this reply?

I realize applying Regular Decision you are suppose to hear back by April 10th
but has anyone with RD heard yet? Any idea if we will hear early? April 10th seems so late. My sister applied 2 years ago (RD) and heard back in January! Maybe things are different this year
 Just curious.

I think they’ve been extremely transparent about what it cost to attend Baylor and what potential scholarship offers exist and the amount
. I get some people wish they would’ve gotten more But they seem to fill up the campus every year

I heard back on Thursday and got accepted!!

@sar23 Thanks for answering that! Did you fill out the optional short essay, resume, etc? Do you mind sharing your stats?

I didn’t fill out the optional essay or resume. SAT was a bit average 1220, I am an international student so we don’t get GPAs but I was pretty good at school. Great ECAs, Drama Leadership Team, Debate Leadership Team, Basketball, a lot of volunteer hours, and a good common app essay. Hope that helps you and best of luck!

@sar23 Congrats!!! Thanks for sharing the stats
I’m a 1330 SAT, 3.6 UW GPA. 2 years ago my sister was admitted with 1270 SAT and same GPA
she heard back in January with RD. Just seems weird I haven’t heard
I keep having this issue with all my colleges. Maybe my essay was bad- lol!!

Did your son apply regular decision?

Baylor

Did you apply later in the process for Baylor? My son hasn’t heard back yet either, but he did apply in late November. Some kids at his school heard back this week with acceptances, but I don’t know when they applied.
