OK so i need help choosing, this is difficult. I plan to major in Behavioral Science and after college i hope to attend medical school. If i choose Baylor, they have pre med courses i could take. UT does not have anything pre-med. But UT ranks higher than Baylor. UT being ranked #52 and Baylor being #75. Which one should i go to? The higher ranked university with no pre-med classes or the lower ranked university with pre-med classes? Which would look better for medical school applications?

What do you mean by pre med classes?

There is no need for pre med classes or a pre med major. You should major in what interests you and what you can do well in, being sure to take the classes in chemistry, biology, etc that are required for the MCAT and to be ready for med school. English majors can be premed, if they take the right science courses.

Baylor is small, religious, and in the middle of nowhere. It has the reputation for being easier, which could be a plus for a premed who needs good grades. UT is huge and diverse, with a tougher academic reputation.

Baylor has something called a Premedicine program. It has all the required classes for medical school and they also do other activites to help with medical school. Its just a program that UT does not have. Theres not much of a difference. UT does have all the classes i need to take, i was just wondering if those certain activies that Baylor would do would make a big difference in my med school application? Im really interested in going to UT though

Whether you are Conservative or Liberal could be a big factor here. A Conservative probably could find a place at Texas, but a Liberal would have a tough time at Baylor. What about your sports allegiance- Longhorns or Bears?

Can you find a comparison of what percentage of people who apply to med school get accepted at the two schools?

Texas is the more prestigious school, I wouldn’t put any stock into that Baylor program tbh. Baylor is probably easier to do well at though.

I don’t think there is a premed major at Baylor. I think you major in Biology or Chemistry or English or whatever. Baylor might have more extensive premed advising, however.

Oops, I see you weren’t planning on majoring in premed. My bad. I guess I have heard too many high school kids talk about pre med and pre law as if those were majors.

Surviorfan- i am definitely a longhorn football fan, have been since i was little

Lizardly- i have looked for comparisons on how many undergraduates from each school get into medical school but i cant seem to find any.

vikingboy11- yea im thinking ill stick with Texas
