Which one is better to attend for research opportunities, better grades, clinical experience, and volunteering? Also, I am probably going to become a national merit finalist, so UTD has full tuition and fees covered, plus 4k per year and 6k study abroad stipend, while baylor has tuition and fees, and some other scholarships like academic excellence that pays 2k. I like UTD’s location more than Baylor, since it is in the city. Which one would you go to?
Have you visited either school?
nah, but I saw the virtual tour for both, and I don’t mind either one’s campuses. I kinda like UTD’s campus more
I would take the time to visit both schools before making a choice.
I second @happy1 's recommendation to visit both school they are very different! They are only about 3 hours drive from each other. Since medical school is in the picture I’d follow the money personally.
Seems like you are already leaning mostly towards UTD.
Try to visit both schools. Baylor probably has more “school spirit” if that interests you, but UTD is also known for being a strong science school.
Doesn’t UTD give more than that for NMF? I thought it also covered room and maybe board???
So if he lives on campus it will be +/- few a $100 of a full ride
I am living off campus so the housing stipend doesn’t matter
Do they allow frosh to live off campus??
I am living with my parents near Baylor, so I am exempted
UTD is a good school but with a commuter feel…some are fine with this, some are not. You will be closer to Dallas but it is not IN Dallas if that matters.
Have you considered UT Houston and UT San Antonio? Both are near some great medical facilities.
Is going out of state a possibility?
What if you go to UT-Dallas
??? You live near Baylor but haven’t visited???
Oh sorry i meant I will live near Baylor if I go there, I don’t live in texas right now but I am planning to move near my university after I finish high school
? Your family is going to move to wherever you go to college???
where would you go?
Can you clarify…are you saying that your parents are going to move to Texas and live either near UT Dallas or Baylor depending on which school you choose??
Do your parents work?
If your parents will need to have jobs in their new location, then Dallas may be better employment-wise.
Right now, I only live with my mom in Alabama, and we live in an apartment instead of a house to make moving easier. My dad works in another state, so he doesn’t have to live with me in Texas, and my mom doesn’t work so we don’t need a job in Texas. I like bigger cities because there are more things to do like go to the movies and big shopping centers. I head Baylor doesn’t have too good of research opportunities, so I am considering UT Dallas, but I will enroll in honors programs, and I will try to get invitation to excellence and the distinguished scholars day scholarships at baylor, and I also wonder if I can use the UT Dallas 4k per semester stipend for anything, even a new microwave or a laptop
Just note, UTD is in Richardson, TX, not Dallas (as the name suggests). It is a quiet suburb and does not have the vibe of a bigger city, more commuter school. Superb facilities for STEM majors though.

Who is telling you that Baylor doesn’t have good research opps???
I think the stipend is $2k per semester, not $4k per semester.
