So I really want to go to baylor but how are their scholarships? and if you compare Baylor to UTD how is it? like education and experience, bc I've heard UTD gives out really nice scholarships and has anyone heard of anyone getting a full ride to either colleges with a 1300 or above (Cr +m)? do they look at extracurricular activities alot, like would they consider that in the scholarship process?

Those are two very different schools in terms of culture. UTD is an up and coming school (it’s SAT scores match exceeds UT) and has been giving out lots of scholarships and I think has a tuition guarantee program. I know a person who’s daughter is there in some combination of computer graphics and is loving it. It started out as a “senior” university grad school and has worked it’s way back down to admitting traditional freshman. Lots of local connections in the DFW area. Baylor is traditional, big time, university for Baptists. As I understand it, it’s not something you can get away from but it’s something to investigate… As for scholarships, I dont’ think either will give you a full ride but you would qualify for something depending on what they’re looking for.

Baylor is a much higher ranking school compared to UTD but it is expensive even after scholarships. UTD is often free if you are even a borderline decent student.
Baylor gives a full on university experience but it’s in Waco. UTD is in Richardson but not far from Dallas. UTD gives a bigger community college vibe to be honest.
UTD attracts kids through free tuition and auto admit but it would take it some time to be a bigger player.
Financial aid at UTD is very hit or miss. Their methodology for awarding it is not very transparent or predictable. Absent an award, it is very expensive for an in-state school, especially one with relatively limited prestige or reach beyond DFW.
I know several kids, including my own, who were admitted with better than halfway decent stats who received zero from UTD. One friend with a 35 ACT was pretty much banking on going there until seeing the net cost. We applied under the same mythology of amazing financial aid, but now consider UTD to be more of a lottery ticket than an assured source. Trinity in San Antonio as well as three top-40 US News schools all turned out to be much cheaper, and better academically, options for my son than UTD.
I know. It looks straightforward in theory but sometimes they do deny with stupid reasons. My kid got one but some of his friends who had better stats were denied and some with lower stats were rewarded. I think they look at factors like your major, number of applicants from your school and your financial status but use stupid objections like two 70’s that you got in some AP course. If a kid has 4.0 GPA, dozen AP courses and 33 ACT then why would that darn 70 matter. Biology major is scrutinized at a diffrent standard then English or Physchology. Plano ISD or Coppell ISD students are judged differently than Farmersville ISD or Allen ISD.
