Bayview Music Festival

Hello, gang! Probably a lot of new faces here who won't remember me as I haven't been active on here for a while - but hi, and hello to everyone who remembers me. :)
Of course this summer is already a done deal but I thought I would pass on, for next summer, information about where my daughter is this summer, because I haven't seen anything about it here, and she is having a wonderful experience. She got an costuming internship, so it's a bit different for her than for performers as the interns are in an odd nebulous existence which is not faculty and not student and is quasi staff. Lol. But she's rooming with all the students and so far it just sounds pretty awesome.
It's right on the bay, on Lake Michigan, in a beautiful little resort area not far from Mackinac Island, in a little community that is part of the Chatauqua movement, of which I was ignorant until she applied for the internship there.
There is music of some sort pretty much "constantly" in her words. The big show this year is Les Mis, and they do a lot of opera too; they are doing Cosi Fan Tutti, and the first show is sort of a review of various opera scenes, for which she is in the midst of busily dressing the performers!
It is not free, the performers do have to pay which covers the room and board (which is resort worthy and Kelsey reports the food is fantastic, delicious, home cooked) and tuition. We never did look at doing music festivals or other programs so I don't know how the cost compares. But it looks to me like they are charging about what it costs them, at most. It is sponsored or connected with the Methodist church (who I have always been told, does the best music. ;) So they say.) There are instrumentalists as well as vocalists and MT programs.
Anyway she is really liking the company so far. It sounds like a combination of summer camp, conservatory, and one of those summer resorts like the one in Dirty Dancing, so far. lol! http://www.bayviewfestival.org/
Something to add to the list of stuff to look at for next year, perhaps!
I hope everyone's kids are weathering the ups and downs of the college experience, because I'm sure there have been both for everyone, certainly it's been that way for us.

Thanks for sharing, sounds very interesting and it is very nice up that way
