I have been thinking about applying to my school's undergrad business school program to get a BBA degree but I am not sure if I should do so because I know I'll more likely end up at Law school than a Business school to get a MBA. If I get a BBA in say, Marketing (I'm most interested in this area), would that hurt my chances of getting into a prestigious law school than if I major in PoliSci/IR?

absolutely positively not. Check over in the Law school section of the CC forums and you’ll see that for law school it doesn’t matter what you major in as long as you have a high gpa and LSAT. if you feel one major over another will help you with that, i.e., some do english to develop critical writing/reading skills, then go for it. if not just do something you’re mildly interested in and then take the LSATs

If you want business, then do a BBA in accountig so that you can practice tax law. There is no such thing as marketng law so if you become a lawyer, your marketing degree will be useless.

^^How can you tell someone their major doesn’t matter and then tell them their major is useless? Great advice. An undergrad accounting degree wouldn’t help you with tax law, considering all you take is personal income tax.

Major in WHATEVER you want and get a high LSAT score and go to law school.

BTW, plenty of lawyers deal with marketing strategy.

Plsc is right, just like i said. pretend i you had no intentions of going to law school. Just major in that, then go to law school if you want/can. That way, if you decide you dont want to or cant go to law school (rejected, financial reasons, etc) you’re not screwed, and have a solid back up that you were mildly interested in anyway. Just get a super high GPA and LSAT so you can go to a high ranked law school. There are too many lawyers for the amount of jobs out there (then again what industry isnt like that besides health care), so you need to go to a high ranked school and make yourself stand out
