See, I know that you need to get your BBA and study hard at your uni to get a high GPA, study hard for the GMAT and do well, and you need usually 4-6 years of work experience to get in to a good school for MBA. Butttt, how important is your school for the bachelors? And I mean if you're looking to get your MBA at Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, Sloan, or Kellogg. Say you come out of a state school (Penn, Connecticut, Binghamton, Mass...) with a great GPA, letters of recommendation, high GMAT scores, fantastic work experience - will you get in, or is this just not enough?

well I want to go to undergrad and get a bach, then work and then try to get into a top 5 b-school. I want to know what one needs besides a high gpa and a great GMAT. Like, what does HBS look for? What kinds of working experience will get someone in to HBS, Stanford, etc...

If you look at where a typical class at a top 5 B school did undergrad, you see that top colleges are best represented. Of course it can be said it's because those people are already super achievers to have gotten into those colleges and because they had access to the best jobs after college.

Popular pre grad school jobs are at investment banks, management consulting firms, assistants to CEOs, and all kinds of unusual positions. I think the idea is to do something where you use diverse skills and have some tangible achievements.

suze, thanks for that reply. It's really helpful...

I tried looking on some college websites, but I couldn't find those stats. I know that lots of schools don't disclose that information, but some do. Any idea where I could find, or maybe someone has links, for where some top B-school admits went for undergrad?
