Yeah, I get that EA is more concentrated than RD, in which mail literally goes out every day for several days, as decisions are finalized. Of course, the volume is a whole lot larger in March. :)

Someone on another thread said that letters will be mailed out on the 14th so I’m going to start checking my portal around the 12th or so! Good to see some fellow Long Islanders over here good luck to you all!

Thank you tennis625! Good luck to you too!

Does anyone know what the “Change password” and “Email changes” mean on the Agora Portal?

Those have always been there. Means nothing. If you want to change your Agora password and change your email associated with Agora, then you click those links.

My two older children were accepted to BC, separate years, (RD) and they both received a pay deposit tab several days before receiving the letter. We do live on the west coast, so it takes a few more days to get here, but you will definitely see a “change” on your site.

Based on last year’s EA threads, it looks like there were no changes to agora portal tabs before letters were received. (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/boston-college/1253285-class-2012-boston-college-ea-decisions-9.html?highlight=early+action+acceptances).

Having said that, my son, who applied EA last year and was deferred, did have tab changes before he was accepted RD. He is a freshman at CSOM this year and is really enjoying it. Daughter applied EA this year, too. Not sure what will happen with tabs this year, but we’ll know soon enough!

Thank you very much, everyone!

Hey Everyone.

If it helps, I got in RD last year and the tabs showed up for me before I got my letter. Therefore, while nothing is definite, you probably got in.

This should be the week that EA admitted students will see the “Tab Change” on the Agora Portal. Acceptance letters may get mailed out as early as Friday, Dec, 14th. For all candidates whose 1st choice is BC, I hope that your dream comes true.
Should BC be a safety school who many Ivy League candidates, I encourage you to revisit the campus and talk with students and professors. As a parent, I have seen first hand how the Jesuit way makes a profound difference during these 4 years of enrichment. Challenge yourself to make a impact on today’s issues.
Good Luck to all applicants. You are the generation that will lead us to new heights!

Concur. As a parent who had one matriculate to an Ivy and one to BC, I can say that the latter received a “better” education. (But of course, that is subjective and anecdotal.) Of course, the Ivy was a whole lot cheaper due to vastly superior need-based aid.

Whoo! I can’t wait.

Just curious, how could BC early action be a safety for ivy candidates. Ivy League schools have either single-choice early action or early decision. Either case, these students cannot apply to BC early action as a “safety” per BC restrictive early action.

I applied to BC as a safety (in case I don’t get into an Ivy). I applied EA there and to two other “safety” schools due to the scholarships that are available for EA students at those 3 schools. My rationale was that my 3 safety schools are outstanding schools that I would love to attend if I received a scholarship for all or the majority of tuition. Applying restrictive EA or ED to an ivy simpy wouldn’t have been as smart, from a money perspective.

Because the Ivy-wannabe did not apply ED and did not apply Restrictive Early Action. The Ivy-wannabe will apply RD.

Yeah. Us “ivy-wannabes” are smart. We think about everything. Including that whole “money doesn’t grow on trees” deal. Why would we apply ED to an ivy, with little to no guarantee of being able to pay for it, when we could apply EA to a school like BC, possibly get the whole boat and then be able to pay for an ivy league school for our graduate degree (the one that truly matters for jobs)?
This way, we “ivy-wannabes” have options that make both fiscal and educational sense if we don’t get into an ivy or if we decide that we’d rather wait on going to an ivy.

Oh interesting. I thought Ivy’s met 100% of need ? But I get what you guys are saying

They do meet 100% of need, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the number they come up with for a student to pay is something that he or she can realistically pay. I, for example, am basically on my own to pay for college. Therefore all loans will be 100% mine. As I want to be a physician, it’s probably not a great idea for me to bury myself in debt BEFORE I hit medical school.

has anyone gotten the pay enrollment tab on the portal yet? I logged in today and didn’t see it. Also applied to BC as a safety so I’m just wondering when it will be there. Thanks!

Me too, but mine didn’t change yet either… My guess is Wednesday? Apparently they emailed deferred applicants today so I’m assuming I’m in the clear bc I don’t think I’d be flat out rejected
