BC calc vs. AP stats

for senior year, i have room for one math class. BC calc is a lot of work and considerably harder, and i would rather take stats because it seems more interesting. do top colleges expect seniors to take calc or is it acceptable to take stats? i’m not interested in math or anything.

If you're applying to top colleges, take BC calc. Stats is a huge joke.

BC Calc looks a lot better on a transcript..
but since you're not planning on doing anything math related it seems - take what you find interesting.

search the archives...i remember a debate on this a few months ago...

here's MHO
calculus is math w/letters--and super-hard...it's a completely different way of looking at stuff
stats is english w/numbers--literally...our stats class consisted mostly of writing explanations of what numbers meant

Stats is boring. And a joke. Do BC for definite.

I am in the same situation. Is there any way I can put on the transcript that I intend to take Calculus in the summer before my freshman year at a CC?

AP Stats is best considered an add-on math class and not a substitute for Calculus. Most colleges do not even award credit or placement for a 5 on the AP Stats exam. That said, if you love AP Stats take it...my kid did in addition to Honor's Analysis and will take BC Calc next year. But don't take it instead of a hard math class. Take it in addition.

Many college Statistics classes are calculus-based. I'm assuming AP Stats. is not, so I would go with Calculus BC.

Take whatever you want.

If you think you might be more social science oriented, statistics would be a more practical approach.
