Dear KB24yo : Rule number one - there are no scholarships at Boston College aside from the Presidential Scholarships and your material presented is not close in the competitive landscape. Rule number two - use your life experiences in your essays to explain challenges in your background, not as the reason for a C+ grade. After all, you scored a 2280 on the three-way SAT yet we do not see a history of family situations “explaining” that score. (Yes, this might sound cold-hearted, but this is actually HELPING you with your application process if you read between the lines.)

As a reader, the most interesting aspects of your background include performing at the White House and the Beijing Invitation. This demonstrates a world-perspective which might help your application.

I think you need to be aiming for higher test scores, since it’s not possible to impact GPA at this late date. BC is a stretch for you at this point.

^what are you talking about with his test scores??

KB24yo, scottj is correct in telling you that there are no merit scholarships at BC other than the 15 - 20 Presidential Scholarships and your stats just aren’t anywhere near what you need to qualify for those. However, need-based aid would be available to you if your family truly “can’t afford full tuition.”

I think Scottj has also given you some good advice about packaging your application. Your test scores are fine, but your GPA is definitely going to hurt you.

Your family better not be making over 40K, that’s all I can say. BC is known for being quite economical when it comes to dishing out aid.

Haha um my family makes around +150K. So i guess not then.
