My incoming BC Freshman has not “picked out” a roommate. I know about the BCRL Freshman Roommate Profile Match service where you can browse profiles to find potential Freshman roommates before the July 1 deadline.
However, my Freshman is shy and is reluctant to “browse” the online matches–he thinks he should rely on BCRL to find a good match for him. Obviously, I think this is a mistake…
Does anyone have any “real world” feedback to share about using BCRL Freshman Roommate Profile Match vs “hoping for the best”?
My son used the BCRL Freshman Roommate Profile and it worked out great!! They ended up rooming together for four years and he is like a second son to me. My daughter picked her own roommate and it worked great as well. I don’t think you can go wrong!!! Good luck!!!
I went random, it can either go really well or not. I was placed in a forced triple at first and did not have the best experience with my first two roommates. I was able to detriple pretty early in the semester and my new(er) roommate was amazing and one of the best people I’ve met here. Either way there’s a 50/50 chance of it working out right. I know people who chose their roommates and ended up not being able to stand each other by the end of the year.
