BC Experience Summer Program

What exactly is the BC Experience? Is it competitive to get into? Does it help a lot for your admissions to Boston College? I’m only a freshman and labeled BC as my dream school, and I’m planning on doing whatever it takes to get in.

I am right there with you! I just went through every page of threads, then I found yours. I am a sophomore in high school, and determined to be accepted to BC. I did a college program last summer, and am doing a leadership one this summer, but am seriously considering doing the BC experience next year. However, I dont know if a summer job, more time spent in community service, or an internship would look better to the school than attending this program.
Let me know if you have heard anymore news, or if anyone else has an opinion on this, please share!

i did two different summer programs at two different schools and from my experience, and from what ive witnessed, there is no correlation between getting accepted and doing the summer programs if thats your plan. also i showed no interest in bc before applying and i still got in. chill out youre a freshman you have plenty more years to stress out.

btw i HIGHLY recommend doing these summer sessions though they were some of the best times of my summers :)

and might I also add…find some sort of community service that is meaningful to you. This is, after all, a Jesuit university. We better ourselves by helping others better themselves.

thanks for the advice. i did a program at duke last year and loved it. this summer UC Berkeley, but i dont have interest in either of those schools.

NervousMAmom- thanks for the advice. especially the part about it being “meaningful to you”. i feel as though so often people are only doing service to get into college, not because its what they truely want. im going to be working at an elementary school in a poorer neighborhood, teaching healthy lifestyles, etc. also, ill be teaching dance classes at the Boys and Girls club for a few weeks, which im so excited about!i love to dance, and i love kids so it’ll be good. thats another reason why i didnt know if this program would be worth being away for 6 weeks for. i think the time put into service that i enjoy would be better in the long run

do they offer any business courses over the summer (in CSOM?) for h.s. seniors (rising), or is just the normal liberal arts classes that they have for BCS (biology, calc, etc)
