BC financial aid

My S received his envelope today, he’s been accepted into the BC honors program. We’re all very excited, however, in his acceptance letter it says to check the portal online for the financial aid award. My S applied for financial aid, but there is no award listed, it does say they have received all the required documents. I’ll call on Monday, but I was wondering if this happened to anyone else.

I’m with you! I constantly check the portal to see if I have any awards, but it always says that I’m missing things. I pretty sure I sent in everything months ago.

Hawaiiboy, I think you should call too!

Yep! I’m with you guys, too.

yah I had the same problem they said I was missing a tax return or something so my parents called, because my mom had already sent it in weeks ago. Sure enough, bc had it and the next day they posted my financial aid award.

I think my problem is that IDOC didn’t report my tax returns to BC. Did that happen to anyone else?

Icy492

what number dis your parents call to contact fin aid?

Kiterunner18- That happened to me too… I’m really confused…

just make sure you send your tax returns to BC asap. If you did not file taxes, you just have to write a letter telling BC that you didn’t work and therefore were not required to file taxes.

I was missingforms and i still got a package from them/

call the Student Services # its on the BC website under the financial aid section

Thanks Icy492 I just found it on the website under contact haha figures. I’ll need to follow up come Monday

yeah same here! It’s a bit frustrating since I sent in everything a long time ago. I will call tomorrow, but I’m afraid this will affect my financial aid, because it’s completely between Boston College and UC Berkeley and UC Berkeley is giving me almost everything =/
BTW my mom didn’t file for taxes, she made almost nothing last year.

^ I doubt it’ll impact your FA that much. I’m hoping that’s the case.

Same thing happened to us, BC had no info on file though we did everything through FAFSA, CSS profile and IDOC. Emailed BC; response was they don’t participate in IDOC for the info and there’s an address on website to send everything directly to them so we’ll be doing that tomorrow. Glad we’re not the only ones who made that mistake!

^ Phew! Thanks for clarifying, cookme. I’m glad I know why they didn’t get it - we sent all the returns in via IDOC.

I think one this BC really needs to improve on is the FA notification, confirmation issue. I had an issue with them last year, and I was still trying to resolve it while deciding which school to attend for the next four years.

@iMac…

If I send my tax returns in tomorrow, do you think it will take a long time for them to come up with a package?

I’m sorry I can’t totally remember, but it probably depends on how busy the office will be, which it will be at this time. But, I would think it would be resolved by the end of the week if you have them faxed, which I think they ask.

But, try and keep in touch with your FA advisor, that’s what I did and daily or every other day we got an update. This was regarding an appeal, but they still maintained contact which was helpful.

^ Thank you! I’ll be sure to get on that. Hopefully things will be worked out.
