BC Football '08-'09 Season

So, we had our first home game today and we lost… But, I was kind of expecting it, especially with how mediocre we were last week. With last year’s departing class, I’m not feeling too great about this season.

Thoughts on this season? Anyone willing to put up how many W’s we’re getting this year?

H and I were at the game yesterday. We have season tickets, so we get to all the home games. We were also a little disappointed with the outcome. The bottome line is that the team lost so many quality players from last year's squad, that they will probably struggle some this year. I also thought the quarterback looked a little tentative yesterday; that he didn't appear too confident in his abilities, but I am hoping that was just a case of first home game nerves. The student section looked wonderful and sounded great. You all showed great school spirit. I hope it continues, even if the team struggles. After all, what else are you going to do on a Saturday afternoon?

We have season tickets, too, and were at the game. The heat and humidity were unbelievable!!

GT looked sloppy during the first half, BC the second half. We were disappointed, but they have these two weeks to go back to the drawing board with the offense, and work on their plays. I agree with Dogwood that Chris Crane looked very tentative about passing--we were all so spoiled by Matt Ryan's performance that no one will look as good. His running game was pretty solid, though.

I also was thrilled to see the student section so full at the beginning of the game for a start time of noon! Keep up that Eagle spirit!!

This will very likely be a tougher season...although the defense has some great players who have returned, and Jeff Smith could really shine for the offense!

Nice win against UCF. Our last easy game should be Rhode Island. After that, our real season begins, imo. I'm still on the fence about Crane's ability. Running in for a TD is not always going to work.

I'm excited for ND. Hopefully, our visitors and students don't get unruly. I'd hate to see a great event get ruined by acts of silliness. I know it's a rivalry but there's no excuse to ruin our campus environment.

Good point - please let's be civil to our ND guests - we will take the high road even though they were less than pleasant to us during our visit to South Bend last year. Has anyone printed up the "Charlie Weiss ate my family t-shirts" yet? Any other suggestions?

I agree with you randomgrandeur. I am not entirely sold on Crane either. There were several people in our section screaming for Davis to be put in for the entire game. The feeling - Crane didn't seem to be able to do the job, so you might as well put the freshman in and let him use the year to learn the system. Of course, the screams turned to cheers after the first half. Crane played like a different person for the second half. Let's hope we see that Crane for the rest of the season. You're right - the real season starts after next weekend. I can't wait for the Clemson, VT and ND games. The Clemson fans are just so much fun. I haven't seen a BC-ND game, so I am looking forward to the holy war, and I love the VT fans as well. What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. H just got an e-mail today that there are still Clemson seats available. I guess Clemson returned some of the seats.
